I was reluctant to pick this guy up but Im glad I did. I saw the reviews/comparisons for the Takara Skids and Savant before deciding to go with this guy. Great in both modes and not too difficult to transform.

X-Transbots knocked this one out of the park. Savant looks great in both robot and car modes; transformation between the two is fairly simple, even fun. One little flaw I found is that the transformation of the upper arms can come a little undone when you swivel the elbows, so you have to keep an eye on that. Otherwise, this is an excellent representation of G1's Skids.

Love this figure, but can be very difficult to get back into vehicle mode

It's funny because I bought this right before Hasbro announced Masterpiece Skids. I'm not a Masterpiece collector, but I love me some obscure characters and I don't feel Skids gets enough love. I figured that Hasbro was never going to do one, but I was obviously wrong. Oh well, that's not a bad thing because I love this figure.
His alt mode looks great, like it jumped right out of the Diaclone line. The paint is gorgeous, the blue has a nice metal flake look to it. All of the details are painted, they even have the key hole for the gas cap done in silver. Transformation is enjoyable. It's really smooth, none of the "bend this, break that" sort of shenanigans that X-Transbots is known for. The robot mode really kills it. (In a good way) He looks so G1 accurate and great. Some people don't like the face, but I think he looks great. His accessories are nice too. He's got both of his guns and the little scooter the Diaclone toy had. All in all, this is just a great figure.

So supremely detailed, not just for the character but with the vehicle mode. This is such a brilliant recreation of the Honda City Turbo, complete with its foldable MotoCompo working in the exact way as it does in reality. great transformation, loads of diecast on display and grealy posable. How often do you see a complete interior and working trunk WITH CARGO on a figure that's less than $200 US? You don't need to like Skids to love this. If anything, buy it to show other companies that you money goes to great figures

This piece is fantastic. Skids is a oft-forgotten character by many, but I always had a soft spot for him, mainly due to getting him for my birthday in the summer of '85. It took a long time for someone to bring him to the MP party, but it was worth the wait. Great look in both modes, fun transformation - arms a tad tricky, but the challenge makes it engaging - , highly posable, and he even comes with the Diaclone bike, which I might not have missed if it weren't there. I have not had the paint trouble that others have. Looking forward to the Crosscut and police versions. Hey, XTB, please make a black Skids and red Crosscut, too!

I like him. His transformation is a little complicated, but not too bad. He looks good, except the face looks reall dull and needs more detailing. His accessories are nice and detailed. Yes, the paint chips, but I don’t think it’s bad enough to ruin the whole thing. If you want a Masterpiece Skids, this is it. Maybe a better one will come later, but for now I’m content with the X-T version.
