Treadshot and Catgut was an exclusive figure released and available only by being a member of the Transformers Collector's Club.

 

The Hasbro Transformers Collector's Club was the official fan club for fans of the Transformers.  By joining the fan club members received initially a magazine and fan club exclusive figure each year.  


Eventually Fan Club members were able to join the TFSS or Transformers Subscription Service.  By joining the service and paying an annual fee members were shipped 6 exclusive TFSS figures each year.   Figures consisted of primarily repainted and remolded figures often made into obscure or fan favorite characters.

I'm a big fan of black repaints, and this one is pretty good. Honestly, I'd have preferred a more muted brownish-red in the torso and head than the unfortunate neon-peach color that it turned out to be, but that's Early-90's Coloring for you...

More disappointing is the Catgut partner. Again, the neon orange legs (true to original character coloring, but still butt-ugly) kind of make it look dated in my eyes, but its alt mode "gun" is just hokey looking.

Near-G2-color usage aside, the actual figure's mold is solid, which isn't surprising as this is the same mold they've used for a couple of iterations of Warpath. Still, it's a nice figure, transforms easily, and is a pretty solid design overall.
