01 Optimus Prime Convoy is part of Takara Tomy's Transformers Encore series which features reissues of original Transformers G1 Generation one toys made back in the 80's.  These reissues of the original robots in disguise feature the original toys in retro Japanese G1 style Takara Transformers packaging.

 

Transformers Encore is a series of primarily Transformers G1 reissue figures from Takara Tomy that began in 2007.   These encore reissue figures come in similar style packaging to their original G1 releases and the toys themselves are very similar to the G1 toys.   Recently Takara Tomy has also released several Encore series of toys that feature Beast Wars re-released and remastered figures in the Encore line.

This re-issue of G1 Optimus Prime got everything exactly like the original ... right down to the long smokestacks. If you never had the G1 Prime from the 1980's, then this Encore version by Takara is the next best thing.

This is one great re-issue, Optimus Prime at is g1 finest, right down to the fantastic vintage box had me going "is this 1984 or 2011?"Get this great re-issue of the main man himself. Highly recommended.
