I am so glad I waited almost half a year after Inferno's release. My only problem with the look of that figure was 'too much red', and I've always thought Artfire's color scheme looked great. If I was buying this for looks alone, I would be thoroughly satisfied. (The tampographs are lovely sharp. Though slightly pink?)
But also, I am loving the new engineering magic on MPs. Plastic's not as thick as MP-36, but the transformation is easy enough that Artfire does not feel fragile. The pegs on the feet are a bit tight but that's about it. He is flat-out fun to transform. So many impressive aspects. The shoulders are genius! There is SO MUCH NECK MOVEMENT! There's an ab crunch! The front wheel rims tuck in slightly to cover the gap in robot mode! The Knee Cylinders Click In Slightly To Be Symmetrical!!! That part made me squeal in delight so hard.
And the ladder vanish. Oh my god. Not only one of the cleverest transformation steps I have ever seen, no exaggeration, but it seems like a direct challenge to the third party companies. I love seeing Takara taking them as a challenge, because the results from both sides' friendly competition are blowing me away.
Also the li'l targetmaster guy is fun. Clever head-hiding gimmick.
My only complaint with the whole set is that his hip ball joints on Nightstick are a bit loose, and Artfire's helmet slides off a little too easily. Shrug. Easily fixed. I definitely feel this was worth my money.
