You can keep the kit on and transform without parts swapping.

They really should tell you that you have to remove the fists from Classics Optimus/Magnus. Which in my opinion, kind of defeats the purpose of this being removable armor. You also have to screw on the shoulder armor. I probably would have skipped this set had I known this.
