ToyGeek code: DS04-SMASH
This figure is part of the Devil Saviour combiner called Troublemaker, which will be a complete set of seven figures combining to create Troublemaker. A very interesting alternative over the ongoing Studio Series version.
This is a very impressive and detailed rendition of Long Haul with a lot of details and a beautiful deco with some dust and weathering. The design has got some liberties and modifications compared to the original movie design, but the result looks great in both robot and alt mode.
Note: Other figures shown sold separately.

Smash is the most curious case regarding detail: The robot looks great and very similar to the movie version. The combiner mode is the most accurate representation of the foot that is part of Devastator at the movie (if you see the pyramid battle scene in slow motion you will notice it). Unfortunately, the vehicle mode is not the case. The wheels are disproportionately small for the vehicle that it looks like a dump truck for a toddler rather than a real dump truck. Regarding defects, I bought two of them, the first one had one of the pieces that holds the side of the dump body against the arm totally inverted. Also, its arm fell by itself on the second transformation sequence without even applying force to it. Also you need to be very careful when setting the upper part of the robot's body in the right position in vehicle mode as there are a lot of points that can break easily.
In conclusion, mixed thoughts about it: Good detail, but quality assurance is not that good.

Well constructed figure! The overall weight feels light but the quality of the plastic is strong. I'm not as weary messing around with it such as split but I've had some good luck with Split as well. Just have some caution when handling this guy

After buying split I was very disappointed in devil saviours products and wasn't looking forward to smash, but I had already ordered him. However when he arrived I was pleasantly surprised.
He can stand up with no problems
He has tight joints
He stayed in one piece (mostly)
And his transformation, while frustrating and unintuitive, is possible without losing your mind. My copy of split can lay claim to none of these.
Even with that being said this figure still has problems. Some joints are actually too tight, yet it seems to be for a structural reason in the combined mode. The missiles tab in too tightly to the dump truck mode and are a pain to unpeg. On top of that some tabs had to be shaved down with a hobby knife to properly fit in their slot (a common theme I'm noticing with these figures). And while most of him did stay together the piece connected to his arm did fall off. But it goes back on easily enough and can be fixed with glue.
If you've been thinking about taking the plunge on these figures be warned. They are as bad as you've heard. That being said if you're willing to deal with all of what I've mentioned, like I am, go for it.
