ToyGeek code: DST01-SLINGSHOOT
This is a highly stylized design, with a different sculpting choice compared to the cartoon-accuracy tendency of recent figures. Slingshoot has a good level of poseability in robot mode and a solid and realistic alt mode.
DST01-001 Slingshoot is Masterpieces scaled and stands almost 9-inches tall in robot mode. This figure is the first of 5 figures in the Dream Star Toys combiner called Encourager!
Add to your Masterpiece collection with this DST01-001 Slingshoot from Dream Star Toys, and order yours today at Toygeek!

I will preface this by saying I am a masochist when it comes to Transformations.
Siege Prime was my favorite Transformer ever until I picked up G-Creation's Ultra Maxmas.
I say that to say this: I LOVE THIS GUY!
From his flashy looks in Bot-Mode to the perfection that is his Alt-Mode, this guy is definitely worth the effort it takes to understand his Transformation. The instructions aren't great, and there are a LOT of flaps and folding.
If you take your time and employ patience, it is a very satisfying process to convert him back and forth.
He has the striking visual presence of the Bayverse designs, but all the heart and character of the classic toys, with the modern WFC-Flavor engineering. Near perfection in my eyes!
...and if you haven't seen his prototypes combined yet, definitely check it out before you pass #1 by!
*one star removed for poor quality of instructions when a figure like this requires clearer guidance.*

I love the design! As of this review in Jan '23, I haven't transformed it yet into the alt mode (and I got it at the end of Dec for my birthday). The other reviews about the fiddly transformation are legit - one of the fingers popped off just trying to put a gun in the hand. I also got the High Dive (DST01-002) and started to transform that one first and a piece broke off. Thankfully TFsource service is fantastic and replaced it! But because of the experience so far with both bots, I've been reluctant to transform them. But that doesn't change how awesome they look! I'm excited to get the rest of the set when they come out.

Avoid at all costs. The joints are poorly thought out, fragile and not graduated. The wings are soft and do not hold. The fingers are imprecise and very weak.

I love the G1 Aerialbots, and am a sucker for them, so I thought I’d give this a try.
I’m a Bayformer hater. I don’t want my transformer faces to look like insect naughty bits. The Bumblebee movie goes a long way to fixing some of the more egregious looks, but still not quite there. I was a bit hesitant, but Slingshoot is quite good looking. (Way better looking than anything from Bayformers.) The decent looking face goes a long way to making it better. As an Aerialbot fan, I had to give this a shot.
Robot mode has some good poseability, although the feet aren’t as poseable as I’d like. The jet mode is awesome. The wings are a little hard to keep in place (but the included stand is great. The figure is large and a total value at the asking price.
There are a few fiddly parts but it is easy enough to transform. I was never able to get the big ratchet out for arm mode, but I’ll keep my eyes open for someone to figure it out and post about it. The instructions really are rubbish so go look online for help.

great looking figure. kind of confusing to transform using the directions supplied and does not explain the type of batteries for the head lights and the base. as someone explained before, youtube has the answers I needed. That aside the figure is well built and looks awesome.
